Santos & Ana’s Backyard Wedding

Santos & Ana’s small backyard summer Houston wedding photography.

As a fellow backyard wedding bride, I really felt drawn to Santos and Ana’s wedding. They enlisted friends and family to make their wedding truly special.

After going through such a hot, dry July it was crazy that the sky finally opened up and started raining, just before Santos and Anna’s wedding. This happens. Mother nature has her own plans. I tell all of my couples getting married on rainy days that rain is good luck on your wedding day. I actually have a whole blog about it. The couple bounced back and forth with the location of the ceremony, but the rain cased just before their wedding and they were able to hold the ceremony and reception outside.

I was in awe at the full island charcuterie spread, the adorable decorations and the floor seating style. The cute coffee table seating was so unique to experience at a wedding. It felt like everyone sitting on the floor had a closer connection to each other because of it. Those who didn’t want to sit on the floor or couldn’t, walked around or sat outside by the bar.

Probably my favorite decoration from this wedding was the golden retriever with cake in it’s mouth by the wedding cake. The couple had pictures of their golden retriever all over including as table numbers. I just love it when couples can incorporate their fur-babies into their wedding, whether they bring them along or they are there in spirit as a cocktail name or place cards.

Also, the bubble gun was an amazing trick for a wedding photographer. I’ll have to get one to use in the future.

Wedding Photography at the Springs Angleton, Texas

Early fall (still summer-hot) wedding photography at The Springs Wedding Venue in Angleton.

Around the end of August, I headed out to Angleton to take photos at the stunning Springs wedding venue there. As a wedding photographer, I love getting the chance to visit interesting and completely unique venues. My mind is always whirring with the photography possibilities.

I loved how the wedding colors seemed to complement not only the bride and bridesmaids, but also the venue. There’s something so special about a delicate blue pallet for your wedding.

Check out my wedding photography from the Springs Angleton venue.

Logan & James’s Lakeside Austin Wedding

It was a beautiful afternoon in Austin on Lake Travis when Logan & James promised eternity to each other. The couple chose to rent some property with a two story dock for their intimate wedding.

The wedding party gathered and prepared in the house that overlooked a small canyon and the lake. After hiking up and down the equivalent of 21 floors (I had to check my fitbit), the wedding party was seated and ready. James and Logan walked down the isle escorted by their mothers. What a special pre-Mothers Day Gift!

The wedding was helped put on by all the couple’s friends and family. They arranged flowers and officiated the wedding. Their officiant, a friend, was funny and poised. She was the best officiant I have had the pleasure of listening to.

After the ceremony, the guests cleared the deck so they could party and dance on the water. The joy was contagious as Logan and James danced well into the night.

Congratulations!!

David & Katie’s New Years Country Wedding

As the weather turned from warm to frigid on New Years eve, David & Katy were preparing to tie the knot in their family’s property in Cat Springs, TX.

With tents tied down, space heaters blasting warm air and friends and family gathered around the twinkle-light alter they were ready for forever. Katie’s two daughters (and maids of honor) walked her down the aisle.

What really tugged at my heart strings during this blended wedding was the vows. Not only the vows to each other, but David and Katie made vows to each other’s children too. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house by the end of the ceremony.

After everyone warmed up and ate dinner, the family had a display of fireworks before the dancing commenced. David & Katie ended their night to sparklers and ringing in the new year as husband and wife.

Jeff & Kim’s Peach Orchard Wedding Photography

Capturing wedding photography at The Peach Orchard in the Woodlands, TX was magical. This brand new wedding venue is built on an acre of peach orchard property owned by a sweet family who had their own wedding there almost 40 years ago.

Jeff & Kim’s Sweater Weather themed wedding photography at the Peach Orchard wedding venue was magical. The color pallet was a combination of cool winter colors with hints of the warm to come this spring.

I loved the pale blue coupled with the warm peach colors and gold undertones. It was a perfect pallet for a venue titled the Peach Orchard, and Kari of Notably Yours Events pulled everything together so seamlessly.

The best part of the entire event was the appearance of Kevin, the sheep. He was so tame and enjoyed all the attention he got from Jeff & Kim. He enjoyed eating grass out back behind the venue as well as walking the property with Jeff & Kim.

The flowers were just stunning, made by the extremely talented Mariela of Casa De Flores (Who was also featured in the HBO series, Full Bloom). I absolutely love how vivid her work is and how she always manages to incorporate something interesting and unique to her bouquets.

Macrame was an art that I thought was dying, but it seems to be making a resurgence in millennial’s and weddings. I was blown away by the macrame arch that Megan of Loving This Macrame made. It was charming and fun to play with.

Danny & Mimi’s Magical Houston Arboretum Wedding Photography

Oh man has it ever been HOT! August in Texas can be a bit unbearable, but a beautiful wedding ceremony like the one Danny & Mimi had make it worth weathering the heat.

Right before they were to get married, Danny & Mimi had an intimate moment where they held hands without seeing each other. There was laughter and a little bit of tears. Andy I like to hang back a bit while taking these photos to give the couple some actual privacy.

The Houston Arboretum was teaming with life and color as Mimi walked down the isle toward her beaming groom.

Mimi’s bridesmaids were resplendent in their soft yellow dresses, that reminded me of flower petals. The grooms men looked dapper in their blue tuxes with pale yellow touches.

At the end of the ceremony, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house… that could have been sweat, or it could have been because of how sweet the whole ceremony was.

This wedding was extra special to me because my parents got married at the same location over 35 years ago. It was surreal walking around where they stood years ago taking photos of someone else getting ready to start the same amazing journey.

Matt & Cassandra’s Lakeside Wedding at Seven Coves

Wedding Photography from a Whimsical Lake Conroe Wedding.

At 8am on Saturday Andy and I ditched the kiddo with his Grammy and started our journey to the other side of town to photograph an afternoon wedding filled with joy, fun and the largest assortment of cupcakes I have ever seen at a wedding.

The sun was shining (miraculously) and the idea was for the couple to marry on the deck facing Lake Conroe, however, the wind was whipping around and the waves were splashing onto the deck with fervor. So, Matt & Cassandra made an executive decision to hold their wedding inside the Seven Coves clubhouse. The couple was already toying with the idea because the weather had been predicted to rain for their ceremony.

Matt & Cassandra’s ceremony was beautiful and intimate. It was held in a part of the building that was surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows. You couldn’t hear the birds and waves, but you could see them, and there was a very friendly resident squirrel who desperately wanted to partake in the festivity food. The venue was whimsically decorated in blue and yellow hanging lanterns, vases filled with babies breath and coordinating pinwheels.

The most important people in both Matt & Cassandra’s lives were in attendance. Matt and his two groomsmen lined up against the windows. Because of spacing issues, Matt was told to turn and face away while Cassandra and her bridesmaids and Jr. Bridesmaid made their way to the end of the isle. When Matt was finally able to turn to see his bride, you could see the sun shining from his eyes.

For all of the crazy weather we have had here in the past few days, I was pleased that the sun was shining and the temperature was in the mid 70’s. A perfect day for a white wedding!

**Side Note:  As a wedding photographer, pinwheel exits are my new favorite exit. The photos turned out so cute and colorful!

Trey & Dallis’s DIY Enchanted Backyard Wedding

An enchanting backyard wedding in Damon, Texas

Trey & Dallas said “I do” at sunset in Dallis’s fathers backyard. The enchanting property was a stones throw from the Brazos Bend Park. Old gnarled oak branches with their long fingers of Spanish moss hugged the property. As the sun set, it peeked through the forest behind the property like something out of a fairy tale.

Dallis’s family made the alter out of old power-line poles and draped them in the same blush cloth from Dallis’s wedding dress and a garland of ivy and pink and blue flowers. There weren’t any ring-bearers or flower-girls, but there was a puppy. Trey & Dallis’s husky puppy, Mars walked the aisle with Dakota, Dallis’s brother before the blushing bride made her entrance.

The couple wrote their own vows, which they read during the ceremony. It was so sweet, there wasn’t a dry eye by the end of it.

The happy couple danced and partied with their friends and family under the Texas night sky. There was corn hole and a ring-toss game as well as great music and dancing. Everything at the wedding was made by the wedding party. It was a complete DIY wedding. Check out some wedding photography highlights. Don’t forget to leave a message!
