Gabe & Katy’s White Oaks on the Bayou Wedding Photography

On a warm spring day, Gabe and Katy got married under swaying chiffon as the Texas sun was setting. It was such a romantic and magical wedding to photograph. The birds were chirping, there was a slight breeze and the sun was setting perfectly behind the happy couple.

One of my favorite wedding photography moments is the first-looks. I love the raw emotion that I capture during first-looks, and Katy had two! One with her Father and one with Gabe. The moments were so special to capture.

Some of my favorite parts of their wedding were taking photos of the joyful couple on the swing after the sun had set and seeing all of the sweet, sweet dance moves. So many guests were really cutting rugs that night.

CJ & Heather’s Rustic White Oaks on the Bayou Wedding

10/10/2020 was a popular day to have a wedding. There’s something so special about the alteration of the date, which is why CJ & Heather chose Saturday to get married.

The day was perfect. The sun was shining and there were only a few clouds in the sky the whole day.

Heather donned a gorgeous wedding gown with a laced bodice and flowing skirt garnished with her sequin encrusted boots. In fact, most of the wedding party opted for boots instead of formal shoes.

A slight breeze stirred the air as members of the wedding party made the trip down the aisle. The grooms men stopped to hug or clap CJ on the back before taking their places. As Heather stepped onto the walkway, CJ couldn’t hold his emotions any longer. There were very few dry eyes from the wedding guests after that.

After a beautiful ceremony full of laughter and tears, Heather and CJ walked the aisle as husband and wife and waltzed into an amazing night filled with dancing and great friends.

Bruce & Kayla’s White Oaks on the Bayou Spring Wedding

Bruce & Kala’s spring wedding at White Oaks on the Bayou marks my first wedding for the year, and boy did they knock it out the park!

It’s that time of year when the weather warms and the spring buds show. This is one of my favorite (and least favorite) times of the year. It’s my favorite time for weddings, but oh man does this season really like to mess with my allergies.

Bruce & Kala’s spring wedding at White Oaks on the Bayou marks my first wedding for the year, and boy did they knock it out the park!

Kayla and her bridesmaids got ready in these adorable flower patterned silk robes that Kayla’s mom found in Taiwan. They opened some bubblie and had a blast getting ready at White oaks on the Bayou. What’s the best way to put on makeup? With a glass of champagne in your hand, that’s what!

The wedding was perfect! Bruce and Kayla married outside in front of a circlet of roses and pink carnations with the soft, warm breeze whispering through their hair. Birds chirped off in the distance and the little stream that runs past the property burbled quietly.

After the sun dipped below the horizon, the fire pit was lit and guests migrated toward the flames to sit and chat or to make some delicious S’mores. The night ended in a sparkler exit and a final kiss from the happy couple.

Kayla’s Bridal Portraits at White Oaks on the Bayou

Kayla and her mom met me on a sunny day in January at White Oaks on the Bayou to take her bridal portraits. I was so thankful the weather was clear and dry for a few days so we could venue out into the fields at White Oaks to take photos.

Last Saturday was Kayla & Bruce’s wedding day! Congratulations to the happy couple. I can’t wait to share their wedding photos with you. Come back in a week to see their wedding photography!

Steph & Jess’s Wedding Celebration at White Oaks on the Bayou in Simonton Texas

Jess & Steph had an intimate wedding in December of 2018, but decided to celebrate their marriage with friends and family this August.

The party was a good ol’ country get together at White Oaks on the Bayou with BBQ, boots and a country band. The Cody Ray Henry Band played a wide variety of music from country to 70’s rock music. People were two steppin’ line dancin’ and all around bogeying (yeah I went there…).

Close to the end of the night, all of the Aggie’s in the room (which was more than half of the room) circled around the dance floor for the Aggie War hymn.

White Oaks on the Bayou

White Oaks on the Bayou vendor appreciation.

It’s 2 days from Thanksgiving, so I’m starting a new type of blog post; vendor appreciation. I will kick off with one of my all time favorite wedding venues, White Oaks on the Bayou.

There is so many amazing things going for this venue. It has a beautiful, permanent outdoor ceremony setup with a stage and a fountain. Wedding parties can dress up or down the area to customize it to your needs. You could drape curtains from the pergola, flowers, cloth streamers… you’re only limited by your imagination.

Also, it’s out in the country, which I love. Surrounded by farms with cows and horses, the venue is 32 acres of quaint and quiet serenity. A big difference from the bustling madness of the forth largest city in the United States.

The bridal suit is light and airy with plenty of room to move around, while the groom’s room is a darker, hunting cottage feel. There is so much space for tables and a dance floor with plenty of windows and an amazing wooden door with wrought iron embellishments.

Check out some of my photos from the venue, including some photos from past weddings I have shot there.

Hunter & Ariana’s Outdoor Wedding at White Oaks on the Bayou

A Summer Wedding at White Oaks on the Bayou

Last Friday, Andy and I traveled to Simonton to one of my favorite venues, White Oaks on the Bayou for Hunter and Ariana’s wedding. The venue is out in the country, secluded from the hustle and bustle of city life with a quaint stream that runs past.

Before the wedding started, Hunter donned a black sleep mask and was lead by Ariana’s father into a private part of the venue. The couple was able to have a sweet one on one where they could calm their nerves and just enjoy the moment alone… with me, the fly on the wall the wedding photographer.

Andy and I were hoping for a little bit cooler of an evening for Hunter & Ariana’s wedding, but because of all of the rain we got earlier in the week, it was both hot AND muggy. I defiantly had makeup drip into my eyes 5 minutes into the ceremony. The heat didn’t stop the drone, though. We were so excited that we were able to fly the drone and get some areal photos as well as video from the ceremony.

The part entered the ceremony to Turning Pages by Sleeping at Last, which is such a beautiful song. Look it up if you are thinking about romantic songs.

One of my favorite parts at a wedding is photographing the grooms face when he sees his bride for the first time. As Ariana glided down the aisle, Hunter teared up (it could have been sweat) His brother stood next to him and gave him several comforting shoulder squeezes. At one point, hunter pulled out a handkerchief to wipe his eyes. It was so sweet, and I am so happy I was able to capture that moment.

I absolutely loved the ring bearer’s sign which said “Too late to run, here she comes!” on one side and “Forever and ever… AMEN” on the other. He was so cute with it. You could tell he understood the huge responsibility he had been given and he was going to do his very best.

After announcing Hunter & Ariana man and wife, the wedding party had a dance-party exited to Let’s Groove by Earth Wind and Fire. Guests shot confetti into the air as the party passed.

The entire wedding was so much fun to be a part of. I am so happy that Andy and I were there to capture the precious moments.

Ariana’s White oaks on the Bayou Bridal Portraits

Happy Wedding Day to Ariana & Hunter!

I can’t believe this day is finally here. I am sure after all of their hard work, Ariana & Hunter can’t either.

As it is my tradition to keep bridal portraits under lock and key until after the wedding day– for obvious reasons– I am starting a new tradition. I’m sharing the bridal session on the wedding day, after Hunter has had his chance to see Ariana first.

A little over a month ago, I met up with Ariana, her mother and sister, Sophia at White Oaks on the Bayou out in Simonton. It was a pretty steamy May afternoon. Luckily, we were able to take the majority of the bridal portraits inside the White Oaks venue. We only ventured out for a few minutes at the end. Thank God for the breeze!

Ariana’s mom and Sophia were such a huge help! I couldn’t have gotten half of the amazing photos I did with out their help. Also, I probably would have fallen off Betsy, my ladder, if it weren’t for their assistance.

Ariana looked stunning in that lace adorned mermaid gown. I’m especially obsessed with the crystal and rose-gold belt. The belt matched Ariana & Hunter’s ring perfectly. In fact, her necklace and earnings were also the same breathtaking rose-gold color. The long veil put the look over the top. I loved that the veil was just a little longer than her train. Can you believe she bought if off someone on Facebook!? Ariana made that dress look good! I wish I could pull off the mermaid look.

Lades and gentlemen, here’s what the future wedding trends are going to look like. Let us know what you think about the bridal portrait session or just congratulate the happy couple on just now tying the knot, literally.
