Brad & Jenny’s little white chapel wedding

Brad & Jenny’s Wedding at the little white chapel in Katy, Texas and reception at Brennan’s of Houston.

On a windy, but quite beautiful, day Brad and Jenny married in front of an intimate gathering of friends and family. The historic, wooden church sits behind the Church on the Rocks in Katy, TX. An interesting fact is that this wasn’t the original location of this church. It was moved here after buildings started encroaching around it.

Brad and Jenny chose to have a first look inside the church before their guests arrived. I know first-looks aren’t for everyone, but I absolutely love shooting them. Even though Brad saw Jenny in her dress before the ceremony, he still had the sweetest glimmer in his eye as she walked down the aisle toward him.

During the ceremony, Brad, Jenny & Jenny’s daughter pored colored glass into a jar as a symbol of the family’s union. Some time later, they will have the glass turned into a piece of blown glass art. I hope I get to see a picture of it. I’m so excited for this!

After the wedding, the intimate wedding party departed to Brennan’s downtown for a romantic reception in the wine room. After an amazing, and one of the most elegant dinner’s I’ve ever had, the couple wowed their guests by helping to make Banana’s foster. The pyro in me was most excited for this moment.

Check out the amazing photos below.

Raphael & Melinda’s Holy Family Catholic Church Wedding

Raphael & Melinda’s intimate wedding at Holy Family Catholic Church.

It was an excessively windy day (reminded me of my time in Lubbock) in December when Raphael and Melinda married. The temperature dipped as the clouds settled into an overcast day.

Lucky, the reception was just a short walking distance from the ceremony. Friends and family gathered early to help with decorations and food.

Melinda was resplendent in her wedding gown. She donned her something blue, borrowed, old and new. She realized, after getting her jewelry and hair clips into place that the look was missing something, earrings. She was about to borrow some earrings from her mom when Raphael gifted her a set of stunning diamond studs.

The couple had a beautiful ceremony in their family church full of tears, laughter and beaming smiles. As if blessed on their wedding day, the clouds parted for a short while and the sun shown brilliantly onto the couple and their wedding party during photos.

As the day progressed into evening, the couple sang, danced and laughed with their friends and family. The evening ended with a grand bubble exit right into the waiting arms of a limo to sweep the couple into their long, happy life together as husband and wife.

Congratulations Raphael & Melinda!

Chris & Adrienne’s Bell Tower on 34th Wedding Photography

It was a pleasant evening in November for an evening wedding at the Bell Tower on 34th. The temperature had recently dropped to a tolerable number. The sky was clear and you could see all the stars, or at least all the stars the light pollution from downtown allowed.

Adrienne was resplendent in her old Hollywood satin gown. She descended the long staircase to her two boys who escorted her down the aisle. The alter shone with warm toned purple hues as the couple light a unity candle and then said “I do.”

After the wedding, the happy couple descended one more set of stairs into their reception. Guests danced and laughed all night. Part way through the reception, the couple held a dollar dance where their guests pinned money to them before waltzing into the night.

I wanted to spend one whole paragraph talking about the groom’s cake… The wedding cake was gorgeous, but it didn’t’ hold a candle (for the nerd in me) to the grooms cake, which was a Millennium Falcon with a “just married” sign. Heart!

At the end of the night, the couple exited the reception to a night filled with bubbles. They said their goodbyes as they climbed into the white rolls limo that escorted them into their first night as husband and wife.

Congratulations Chris & Adrienne!!

Rachel & Krista’s Ronin Art Studio Wedding

Wedding Photography from Rachel & Krista’s Roinin Art studio wedding.

I love that intimate weddings are becoming a thing. I especially love that those intimate weddings are being held at unique places like art studios, museums and gardens. Rachel and Krista’s wedding was perfect. I especially loved the plum colored suit Rachel chose to wear. The sunshine was streaming into the art studio through the high windows and the skylights shining resplendently onto the couple.

Will & Arden’s Bowery House Wedding

Will & Arden’s wedding at the Bowery House in Katy, TX.

The entire week leading up to Will and Arden’s wedding was filled with dark rain clouds and pounding rain. The day of their wedding, Mother Nature showed her romantic side and brought forth the shining sun. I will continue to sing my praises to Mother Nature for allowing me to photograph a stunning wedding with the sun shining.

The Bowery House was such a perfect venue for the happy couple to share their vows (and like the romantic journal, their vows were so sweet). Will and Arden are bubbly, romantic and such a unique couple. The venue was soft and romantic on the green where the ceremony was held. I was particularly drawn to the way the tree at the alter made an arch. It was like the magic of the Fey blessing the venue. It’s 3 story urban brick building reminds me of an open air train station on the bottom, an elegant reception hall on the second floor and a whimsical roof lounge on the top.

Will gave Arden a journal on their wedding day. The journal was filled with entries the week leading up to their engagement. Will wrote in the journal every day leading up to the day he proposed to Arden. I was CRUSHED when I read this. This is the sweetest thing I’ve ever had the privilege of photographing. Between me and Andy, I’m definitely not the romantic one… but this, this made my heart squeeze.

After the ceremony, the happy couple danced well into the night surrounded by so many loving friends and family. Though they did cut a cake, they chose to offer Shipley’s donuts to their guests in leu of cake. To say I was obsessed, is an understatement. Shipley Donuts > KrispyKreme (fight me).

At the end of the night, the wedding guests sent the couple off with a long sparkler exit. The party didn’t stop there, though. The get-away car took the couple to a second location for the after-party of the century.

Congratulations to Will & Arden on their happy marriage!!

Joshua & Katelyn’s Orchard at Caney Creek Wedding

Joshua & Katelyn’s Orchard at Caney Creek Wedding Photography

Less than a week after hurricane Nicholas blew through, Joshua & Katelyn tied the know at the Orchard at Caney Creek in Wharton, TX.

It was a beautiful day and the temperature, though still hot, was bearable. The wedding party got ready in separate locations on the property. The woman at the Orchard House while the men hung out at the Lodge and played pool.

Joshua & the wedding party walked down the isle to the Imperial March. Everyone had a good laugh as the Flower-Man, Katelyn’s brother, threw flower petals from his white fanny-pack and handed out cold beers to wedding guests. Katelyn walked down the isle with her grandfather to I See the Light, from Tangled. It was fitting because Katelyn embodied Rapunzel with flowers in her braid.

The wedding was a family affair. Katelyn & Amanda one of her bridesmaids made the floral arrangements and the bouquets. Katelyn’s grandma made the cake and cookies. Everyone had a hand in pumping up the party for this joyous event.

At the end of the night, Joshua & Katelyn shared a private last dance in the gazebo on the lake. It was one of the most romantic last dances I’ve seen.

Wedding Photography at the Springs Angleton, Texas

Early fall (still summer-hot) wedding photography at The Springs Wedding Venue in Angleton.

Around the end of August, I headed out to Angleton to take photos at the stunning Springs wedding venue there. As a wedding photographer, I love getting the chance to visit interesting and completely unique venues. My mind is always whirring with the photography possibilities.

I loved how the wedding colors seemed to complement not only the bride and bridesmaids, but also the venue. There’s something so special about a delicate blue pallet for your wedding.

John & Allyson’s Classic Houston Wedding

On one of the hottest days in July, John & Allyson said “I do” in front of God and family at Allyson’s family church in Houston. The wedding date was extra special for Allyson because it’s also her Grandfather’s birthday, which they also celebrated at the reception.

The wedding was filled with soft pinks and white hues including a gorgeous bridal bouquet to drool over.  Allyson’s bridesmaids were resplendent in light blue dresses that fluttered in the whispering breeze. John wore his dress blues for the ceremony and was accompanied by his father, the best man. In fact, Family was a major theme for the evening. Family helped pull the wedding together and they were part of the wedding party.

I love a first look and Allyson blessed me with not one but two first looks and a first touch. She had a first look with her father at their family home then a first look with her bridesmaids at the church as she was exiting her limo. A little before the wedding was to start, John & Allyson shared an intimate moment where they held hands and talked for a few minutes before the wedding.

After the ceremony, we headed to the Club at Falcon Point golf course in Katy, TX. The staff cleared the course for a few moments giving us some time to take a few more photos on the property. John and Allyson commandeered a golf cart and enjoyed a few moments alone as they drove to the portrait location.

Guests danced the night away and enjoyed a stunning sunset. At the end of the night, John & Allyson’s guests sent them off with a sparkler exit and Allyson’s grandfather helped chauffeur their getaway vehicle.

Joseph & Jordan’s Art Industrial Houston Wedding

It was a surprisingly pleasant summer evening in Downtown Houston when Joseph & Jordan said their vows. The intimate industrial venue was located between one of the U of H campuses and the Saint Arnold Brewery just north of Downtown Houston.

The venue was decorated in greenery and succulents, my favorite part. The wooden alter was made by Jordan’s father. After their wedding, the couple will turn it into an entertainment center. I thought this was a really smart and creative way to reuse wood (which is SO EXPENSIVE right now) and to keep a part of their wedding with them always.

The wedding was a small, friends and family affair. A friend got ordained to marry them. Friends helped serve food, drinks and cut and serve the cake.

What a beautiful wedding. I’m so thankful to have been able to capture it. Congratulations to the happy couple!
