Raphael & Melinda’s Date-Night Engagement Portraits

Date-Night Engagement portraits at Sugar Land Town Center

Raphael & Melinda were supposed to have their engagement portraits a the Houston arboretum, but after Hurricane Nicholas hit Houston, we decided to change gears. After the big rain storm, we were concerned about mucky, muddy terrain and the inevitable humidity. After it rains here, we’re reminded that we basically live in a cemented swamp.

I took the happy couple to the Sugar Land Town Square to take their engagement photos. We chatted while we walked around the area snapping cute photos in all sorts of unique locations. Some of my favorite shots from the session were at the Pub and at Starbucks.

Check out the photos below

Troy & Hailee’s Galveston Beach Engagement Portraits

As we reach into summer, I find myself spending more and more time at the beach for engagement portraits. Every time I try to take photos somewhere else, both myself and my clients are drenched in sweat by the end of it. There’s something about the ocean breeze and sand between your toes to make you feel better.

I met Troy and Hailee at Stewart Beach in Galveston just before sunset. We chatted about life, wedding plans, twins, and crabs. Troy pointed out some crabs while we were taking photos and even captured a sand crab at the end of the night as we were walking back to our cars.

Leighton & Heather’s Galveston Engagement Portraits

There is a unique place as your heading out to Galveston that I have wanted to stop at and take photos for a while now. I was so excited when Leighton and Heather agreed to be my guinea pigs. So, before heading to the beach, I met up with the couple at the marshes.

When we got to the beach, I found out that Leighton & Heather could dance. When I say dance, I mean intense quasi-acrobatic swing-dancing. They showed me their sweet, sweet dance moves (which I captured) then we walked down to the jetties, which I’ve been intrigued about for a while now. There, I got into some trouble with the lifeguard because I kept standing where I wasn’t supposed to stand, and I asked Leighton and Heather to stand where they weren’t supposed to… who knew there were so many rules around the jetties?

Stuart & Laura’s Engagement Portraits at Smither Park

Stuart and Laura were looking for something a little urban and a little unique for their engagement portraits, luckly for them I recently came across Smither Park. The park was filled with tile mosaic art from so many local artists. When we arrived, there were artists using the park as inspiration for their own art.

I enjoyed getting to know the couple and hearing more about their wedding plans. They both have mad dancing skills that were so impressive! I was so excited to get to capture some of that in their engagement portraits.

Ashley & Sonya’s Downtown Houston Engagement Portraits

Ashley & Sonya told me they were big theater aficionados when I first met them. That sparked the idea of taking their engagement photos around the beautiful architecture in the Houston theater district. I absolutely love how the photos turned out. We ended our Houston engagement portrait trip at Eleanor Tinsley park. The sunset caused a the skyscrapers downtown to glow this gorgeous orange and pink tone.

Nathan & Deanna’s Antique Rose Engagement Portraits

It was a stunning spring afternoon when I met up with Nathan & Deanna at the Antique Rose Emporium in Brenham. We were in the height of bluebonnet season and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky.

We walked around the gorgeous grounds of the emporium snapping cute shots among the roses and under natural arches. Some of my favorite spots, though were on the wooden porch. I absolutely loved the location the couple chose and was happy we could even get a few photos in some bluebonnets.

Matt & Taylor’s Memorial Park Engagement Portraits

After walking the park by their home, Matt and Taylor decided they wanted to take their engagement portraits around the brand new lake in Memorial Park. The 100-acres of eastern glades is surrounded by cute wooden walkways though parts of the glade and interesting concrete structures. There’s something at every turn. I couldn’t be happier about how Matt & Taylor’s engagement portraits turned out.

Aaron & Carrie’s Hermann Park Engagement Portraits

It was a gorgeous day when we set out to hike the Hermann Park trails to take engagement portraits. So gorgeous (compared the the previous days) in fact that it felt like half of Houston had the same idea. The park was swarming with people, but the further into the park we got, the fewer people we came across.

We hiked from the zoo parking lot all the way to Rice University where the azalea’s were in full bloom.

Joshua & Katelyn’s Brazos Bend Engagement Portraits

After weeks of what felt like cold & gloomy weather, we finally had some really gorgeous days. One of those days happened to be the day I took Joshua & Katelyn’s engagement photos.

Brazos Bend State park was a buzz with life as we hiked through golden fields, alligator lakes and ancient oak trees looking for the best locations to take engagement portraits.
