Houston Science Museum Engagement

Ashley & Paige chose to have their engagement photos at the Houston Museum of Natural Science downtown.

This was my first time shooting inside the main exhibit hall. I have, on several occasions taken engagement photos, bridal portraits and wedding photos inside the butterfly museum. As a museum nerd, I was ALL about exploring all the great portrait options inside the museum!

There were so many fun places to take photos. I loved the anthropology hall, the dinosaurs and the energy floor. Each exhibit had it’s own style of lighting which made every image very moody.

One bonus of shooting your engagement photos inside the museum is the weather is perfect for your shoot every time!

Camping Engagement Portraits

Brent & Karlie’s Camping styled engagement session.

Brent & Karlie opted for a camping style engagement photo session. We met up at Kelly’s pond located inside the vast Sam Houston National Forest. Brent and Karlie had the perfect location picked out just a short hike into the woods. This was my first time taking camping engagement photos, and I loved it! The Spawn came along (because he had to) and he was OBSESSED with their hammock. So much so, that we had to buy one before our next family camping trip.

Nerdy Engagement with Swords

Christian & Aryn’s nerdy engagement photos at Meyer Park.

When you’re into things like medieval swords & helmets, you bring them to your engagement portraits! I had so much fun playing around with portrait ideas that involved the props Christian & Aryn brought. I had to bring my spawn along for the ride as well, and he enjoyed setting up a pose or two.

Twilight-esk Engagement Photos

Taylor & Charrie’s twilight like engagement photos at the William Goodrich Jones State Forest.

Early in the year I met up with Taylor and Charrie at the William Goodrich Jones State Forest to take their engagement photos.

The way the trees are so close together and almost uniform really drew me to this location. For Charrie, it reminded her of one of her favorite movies, Twilight. It was also a bit of a dreary day, which really added to the effect.

I loved Charrie and Taylor’s choice of outfits. They were fun and whimsical and perfect for their personalities. Check out their engagement photography here.

Galveston Engagement Portraits

It was a beautiful day in Galveston when I met up with Lukas & Tori for their engagement portraits.

We decided to start on the Strand first. We wondered the streets walked up stairs and found a cute alley to take engagement portraits.

Some of my favorite photos from the strand were reflected photos and photos on the old brick.

After the Strand, we headed to the beach to take a couple of photos as the sun set. We met up near the Pleasure pier and started under the pier of another property taking engagement photos with the pleasure pier in the background. The sky was weirdly foggy for a sunset, but it gave the photos this ethereal vibe.

Midtown Houston Engagement Photos

Caleb & Taylor’s Midtown Houston Engagement Portraits.

It was a warm December day when I met Caleb & Taylor at the old Black Labrador location which(I didn’t know until I got there) is now a part of the University of St. Thomas. We wondered around the location, sad that the colorful doors were all a bold black against the brick. There was a puddle in the parking lot that I was excited to use for some creative ideas.

After taking photos around the building, we headed over a block or two to the Menil collection park. Caleb and Taylor attempted a swing attached to an old oak tree and hid in the old oak tree.

Hermann Park Engagement Portraits

Trey & Cassandra’s Early Morning Hermann Park & Rice University Engagement Portraits

Tristan and I met Trey and Cassandra in one of the Hermann Park parking lots for their early morning engagement portraits. Tristan was bribed with donuts if he helped me with the engagement portraits.

We started the morning just inside Rice University where the oak trees canopied the driveway. We were hoping for sun-rays through the trees, but unfortunately it ended up being a mostly overcast day. I made Trey and Cassandra play a few funny games for their portraits which brought out some amazing laughs and smiles.

Cassandra had on these adorable earrings that said “I do.” I had to make sure I got several shots with them.

There was a lot of construction at the park, so we wondered the long way to the reflection pond. Tristan helped drag the wagon that had purses, lights and a blanket. On several occasions, I made the couple test their balance on the train tracks.

I was just absolutely amazed at how the photos turned out. You would think Trey and Cassandra were seasoned models. See the photos below!

Moody Clay Family Eastern Glade Engagement Photos

Lorenzo & Blanca’s Early Morning Clay Family Eastern Glade Engagement Portraits.

It was just before sunrise when I met Lorenzo and Blanca at the Clay Family Eastern Glade park. At that time in the morning, the track was filled with runners trying to get some exercise in before the heat took over.

Lorenzo and Blanca wanted a more moody style, which isn’t my norm. Blanca had seen my post from cemetery engagement shoot and had fallen in love. Who am I to deny anyone art? Plus, I love messing around in Photoshop trying new things.

Lorenzo wanted some shots with his motorcycle so we started there before the sun had fully risen. After their motorcycle portraits, the couple put the bike back into a parking spot then did a quick outfit change before we walked around the park.

The sun rise was GORGEOUS, and their photos were breath taking! Again, I’m not usually a moody styled photographer, but these photos made me double guess myself. Check out the photos below!

Landon & Stephanie’s Mercer Botanic Garden Engagement

Landon & Stephanie’s Mercer Botanic Garden Engagement photos

It was a gorgeous day (though I was recovering from the Flu… thanks Andy) when I met Landon and Stephanie at Mercer Botanic Gardens in Humble, TX.

Several years ago, my mother introduced me to this amazing place. She’s a Fort Bend Master Gardener and they had been volunteering out there for an event. If you haven’t seen the garden, it’s amazing. Each section is so unique and I am so excited for the renovations they are doing right now.

We walked around in some of my favorite parts of the garden, trying to avoid the zillions of Quinceanera portraits. The one thing I really love about the north side of Houston is the amazing pine trees. The engagement portraits I took of Landon & Stephanie with the pine trees in the background were one of my favorite. That and the ones with the purple flowers.
