Real Wedding at Olde Dobbin Station

Christopher & Faith’s Fall Celebration

As a photographer, there are few things I love more than a crisp fall day in Texas. When Christopher and Faith chose Olde Dobbin Station for their September wedding, I knew it was going to be a perfect combination of historic charm and romantic atmosphere.

I’ve had the privilege of shooting at Olde Dobbin Station before, and I’m excited to be returning again soon—but this particular September day stood out. The air was cooler than normal (a rare treat for Texas in September!), and the sky was a cloudless bright blue.

Here is a look back at Christopher and Faith’s stunning day, and why this venue remains one of my favorite places to photograph in Montgomery County.

Why Olde Dobbin Station is a Photographer’s Dream

For couples currently searching for an Olde Dobbin Station wedding photographer, you know that the venue is famous for its rustic, historic feel. Located in Montgomery, Texas, the old train station turned event venue offers a unique blend of vintage brick, industrial windows, and open-air spaces.

Faith and Christopher fully embraced the venue’s character. For their ceremony inside the station, they set up a gorgeous arch draped with fall foliage. To add to the seasonal vibe, they lined the aisle with pumpkins—a perfect nod to the autumn season without going overboard.

The historic architecture of the station provides a timeless backdrop that never goes out of style. Whether we were using the large industrial doors for natural light portraits or utilizing the brick walls for moody, romantic shots, the venue did the heavy lifting.

The Details & The Vendors

A wedding day runs smoothly when you have a great team behind you. Faith and Christopher assembled an all-star cast of vendors who made the day effortless:

  • Venue: Olde Dobbin Station
  • Coordination: Toast Entertainment
  • Catering: Chuy’s (Because who doesn’t love Tex-Mex at a wedding?!)
  • Cake: Not Your Ordinary Cakes

Natural, Timeless Style & Easy Direction

One of the things I pride myself on as a photographer is creating images that feel natural and effortless. Christopher is a firefighter, and while he looked sharp in his suite, I knew that being in front of the camera all day might not be his favorite part of the wedding.

My approach to posing is simple: easy directions and prompts.

I don’t believe in rigid, stiff poses. Instead, I guide my couples into flattering light and then give them prompts to interact. For Christopher and Faith, we focused on movement—walking together, whispering inside jokes, and focusing on each other rather than the camera.

This is how I capture the “timeless” look my clients love. When you look back at your photos in 20 years, you don’t want to see a trendy pose; you want to see the genuine emotion of the day. By keeping the direction light and fun, we got genuine laughter and intimate moments.

The “Last Dance” and the Sparkler Exit

As the reception wound down, we had a unique opportunity. Because the couple planned to party past my scheduled time, we decided to organize a private “last dance” before their faked sparkler exit.

This is a trend I absolutely love! It allowed Faith and Christopher to have a quiet, romantic moment alone on the dance floor. No crowd, no distractions—just the two of them swaying under the venue lights. It was the perfect way to calm their nerves and soak in their last few minutes as newlyweds before stepping out into the night.

We then staged their sparkler exit (a great way to get that shot without actually ending the party!), and they went back inside to celebrate with their guests while I packed up my gear.
